The Sims 2 (2004)

Okay I really truly honestly wasn't planning on putting any Sims stuff in these pages because there's enough of that in the webshrines but a video game section just would not be complete without my beloved. I really love this game so much!! It's completely irreplaceable in my mind - no matter how advanced lifesim technology gets, I will always adore the charm of The Sims 2. This is simply humanity at its peak!!!!

Yakuza Kiwami (2016)

The fact that this game hit me so hard even after I finished the incredibly emotional Yakuza 0 is impressive, to say the least. I know I'm not saying anything new with "Yakuza series good" but Kiwami 1 has always been a standout for me. Maybe it 's Majima everywhere, maybe it's Nishiki's outstanding role as antagonist, maybe it's MesuKing, whatever, this shit is just good plain fun!

Postal (1997)

The Earth is hungry. Its heart throbs and demands cleansing. The Earth is also thirsty. So, I actually played this game after Postal 2, and I suspect the stark contrast to the sequel is why I loved it so much. (shock value works!) Besides, any game with a designated suicide button is a good game in my book.

Postal 2 (2003)

This can't be good for me, but I feel great. I really didn't want to include multiple entries of any given series on the Polly's Corner pages, but Postal 1 & 2 are different enough that I think I can break this arbitrary rule I made for myself. If you haven't noticed by now, I have an affinity for all things transgressive - Postal is no exception. Plus, I think that delightful map music is burned into my brain forever.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy (2001-2004)

Ace Attorney absolutely ruled my life in middle school - definitely one of the better games to revolve your life around at that age, I would argue. I still remember the unbridled joy I felt from going to the mall in 7th grade and finding an Ace Attorney shirt in ThinkGeek. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf (2012)

The most beloved entry of the Animal Crossing series, and for very good reason. ACNL was not my first Animal Crossing game, but it's by far my favorite. I still have the town I started when I first got my 3ds for my 8th birthday, creatively named - wait for it - "starwars" in all lowercase. To be fair, I wanted to name it Tatooine, but I guess I couldn't figure out how to spell that.
